Route 36

Route 36 leads west from Violet City, passing the north entrance to the Ruins of Alph as it approaches a fork in the path. On the player's first visit to this route, a Sudowoodo will appear, blocking access to the two paths in this fork. The player must use a SquirtBottle to initiate a battle with the Sudowoodo. After catching or defeating it, the fork in the path is cleared, and the rest of Route 36 can be accessed. One path in the fork leads north, toward Route 37 and Ecruteak City. The other path leads slightly south before turning west. This path passes Schoolboy Alan and a patch of tall grass before splitting into two paths. To the south is a path leading to Route 35.
